Ounce
Privacy Policy
Effective September 22, 2026
Ounce is a backpacking weight calculator that runs entirely on your device. It has no account, no network connection, and no analytics. This page exists because app stores require a privacy policy link — the short version is that there is nothing to disclose, because nothing leaves your phone.
What Ounce stores
Everything you enter — kits, gear items, checklists, your chosen units, your body weight, and your colour theme — is saved only in your device's local app storage. None of it is transmitted anywhere, backed up to a server we run, or visible to us in any form.
What Ounce does not do
- No account or sign-in of any kind.
- No network requests — the app functions fully offline and has no servers to talk to.
- No analytics, crash reporting, advertising, or third-party tracking SDKs.
- No access to your camera, location, contacts, photos, or health data.
- No cookies, and nothing shared or sold to third parties, because nothing is collected in the first place.
iCloud and backups
Ounce's data lives in your device's local app storage. If you have iCloud Backup or a similar device-level backup enabled, your operating system may include that local data in your own backup — that's a function of iOS itself, not something Ounce initiates or has any part in.
Children's privacy
Ounce does not knowingly collect information from anyone, children included, because it does not collect information at all.
Changes to this policy
If this policy ever changes — for example, if a future version of Ounce adds a feature that does involve data leaving the device — this page will be updated first, and the effective date above will change accordingly.
